The image shows the first exhibition location in the Museum for Art and Cultural History Dortmund. New images will follow with the opening at the LWL-MAK.
The list of aspects that unite or differentiate people is endless. However, some distinguishing features crop up again and again in debates: sexual orientation, gender, disability, origin, religion and generation.
These characteristics are found in contexts of discrimination, Marginalization and unequal social power relations. How is it possible to have discussions about diversity appropriately? What perspectives and what language are needed to take their complexity and relevance into account?
In order to answer these questions, students at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences interviewed eleven people about the reality of their lives - because discussions about diversity often take place without those affected.
Visitors to the exhibition can get closer to the different dimensions of diversity through a series of interviews at six stations and use explanatory cards to deal with definitions of various terms and prepare themselves for future conversations.
